I have been waiting for this sign. I believe this is a great sign, consumers apear to buy clothes online more than books now

I did a related post earlier about shopping trends and also about womens influence on online behaviourpatterns.

I my world, this must be a good thing, taking the Internet closer into our daily lives. I hope and think that we’ll see the patterns change even more in the next couple of years. The fact that technology has improved and everyone has access to high-speed internet, does influence.

Google job – job at Google ?

If you are looking for at job at Google, all you have to do is search.

Google can have so much fun with their index. They can present whatever they want, make special searches return special results etc. I often wonder what Easter eggs they have on Google.com, or if they have clowns employed to make fun on the site.

So, instead of searching for the job section on Google.com, search for the word “google careers” directly in the searchfield (source: Battelle)

It doesn’t work on your local language-Google however. So make sure you use the international Google.com (http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en)

Searchengines and democracy

Don’t be evil, is a frase associated with Google (link to article on subejct). Google is your friend, is the impression most people have. The searchengine helps you find relevant information fast and effectively. You think.

But, consider this. Google sorts the index according to advanced logarithms and presents in the SERP (search engine resultpage). Let’s say you want to go on holiday, and do a search for cheap trips, flights, hotels to, let’s say Paris. You think Google is your friend and returns an objective result on who is in that business.

But, actually Google returns a first page, which 90% or more people choose from, is optimized intentionally by experts on optimization. The resultpage is not an objective result anymore. As a matter of fact, the first page consists of only optimized pages. Who says that these pages represents the great sources you are looking for ?

I don’t blame the SEO-companies at all, hey they are optimizing to google. If anyone is to blame, it’s the Google results, aka Google.

Students
Students look for sources to their research. Beware now, cause optimized pages are not objective and representing the “truth”. Students should be very aware of this from an early age.

Cencorship
Now, what’s this with Google in China, is that ok ? Personally I think Google is just trying to get a piece of the cake. But,,,, Perhaps it’s better to have Google in China, than to not. In some way, Google could influence world cultures, democracies and the power balance. It may be a theoretic thought, but being the primary source for searching information in the world, Google could decide or be told to provide special results, censored results.

I support my local Google, I allow Google to gather information on my searchpatterns, submit data etc etc. I beilieve this can help improve Google and thus my favourite search source. I don’t belive China can keep up the censoring of information. Sooner or later technology will set them free, or at least grant the Chinese people, and others, the right to access information and knowledge.

This hopefully will help making the world a better place.

Stealing BMW website – stat company rips off BMW

What’s this, has someone been quick to rip off BMWs website and misery ? BMW Statistics – or ??

Search google for site: BMW.de. The first result is apparently a link to a statistics service in the BWM domain. I hardly believe that BWM has a company doing statistics.

Firefox – the fastest and safest browser- download overview of mozilla web

Firefox mozilla browser is the best

Firefox is growing explosively in use. Earlier Microsoft didn’t see Firefox as a threat to their Internet Explorer (IE) browser. However, Firefox is taking percentages of their market. According to Echoecho.com, they’re now up to 6 percent of the browsermarket. Microsoft now considers Firefox a serious threat. Great, this can only mean that Microsoft improves their browser.

When I write stuff to webpages, I use Internet Explorer the most. But this is only to see what the pages look like in IE. I prefer Firefox, it IS faster, and has more features that makes it easier to surf the internet. Try it out, get Firefox from the bottom or right column.

Google Pagerank – a need to know in SEO

Want more traffic, want popularity ? Increase your Google Pagerank, and your on that path. Google pagerank is a way to rank pages in order to place them first or last in Googles searchresults. Most websites want to be found first. But getting a first place is hard.

Pagerank is primarily defined by how many relevant links from greater websites you have to your website. The more links from highly rates websites to yours, the higher pagerank. You should get out there and ask for the nice websites to link to you, or even better, and more seriously, you should write great content, and the links will come themselves. Read Google’s ultrashort description of pagerank, or search Google on pagerank, there are tons of relevant pages and great tools and tricks to improve your pagerank.

Googlebot is your trusted friend

If you’re into tracking your visitors, one visitor that is always there, and very very often, is Googlebot. You may have thought about it as an evil or a good. But what is it ?

Googlebot will crawl every page on your site, unless you really mess up or spam the robots. But you’ll still need the robots.txt file. If you don’t have it, make one. Reduce your errors and Googlebot will be must friendlier.

But Googlebut makes your tracking harder. Using webtrends, you’ll probably like to sort away bots, which should be an easy task in the newer versions of Webtrends. Most advanced tracking-software or services have this ability.

Googlebot and google will rate your pages, index them and present them according to the rating. So, go do some deaper research on Googlebot, and your site will be easier to find out there. That is, if you want that.

You should start at Googlebots “homepage” http://www.google.com/webmasters/bot.html, there you should get your first insight in this bot.

Then there are the other bots. MSN, Yahoo etc etc. Take a look in your logfiles or your online trackingtool, and follow the links that the bots leave behind.
